First off many thanks to Wapping and all the contributors for your help in planning our trip.

Where we have been in 10 days and 2000 miles.

We started in Netherlands at the Hook following the overnight ferry. Into Germany and a stop at Bad Bentheim to look at the Schloss. Then overnight in Ibbenbuen for no other reason other than a 3rd of the way the Colditz. Nice place to stop at. Next day to Goslar in the Hartz Mountains overnight stop another nice town to stay in but expensive for accommodation. Next day to Colditz arrived about 15.00 booked B&B on the way. Walked into town to suss out the Castle Tours start at 10.30 next day. So Colditz tour next day quite good but weather was cold and damp still could have been worse might have been staying there for a few years. So finished tour at about 13.00 had coffee and cake in bakery then back to digs and off again. Managed about 150Km had to stop due to weather it was raining which was not a problem but due to altitude the low cloud made visibility about 25mtrs we stopped at a junction to discuss what to do and above us was a Hotel sign in 1Km so off we went 120Euros and 10mins later Hotel suite with garage and access to fitness spa (no we didn’t) and breakfast. So that was that problem solved. Next day fed and watered off we went after a few miles and without realising it we were in the Czech Republic! Great mountain and forest roads, good conditions and roads very quiet (we will be back in a later Tour). Did about 150Km and back into Germany and down to Passau. Interesting town have a look. Next to Berchtesgaden to visit the Eagles Nest well that was the plan, unfortunately it is not open until the 9 June due to last year’s winter snow fall. We spent a lot of time researching the Eagles Nest but nowhere could we find that it was closed. Instead we went to the Documentation museum which was interesting. Next day across the Bavarian Alps to Ravensburg. Good roads plenty of places to stop for coffee, fuel, ice cream and cake. Stopped overnight and made plan for next day, originally we were going to do a circular route around the Black Forest but as it was Sunday and after reading about how busy the roads get at weekends we rearranged the rout and went to the Porsche museum (good). Then moved on to Pforzheim only because it was close to the Black Forest so we could do a revised route the next day (stayed in the same hotel for 2 nights)Great roads around the Black Forest we will be back for a better look.
Next day on to the Technik Museum Sinshiem (Best visit of the tour). After the museum we moved on north and a couple of night stops and some great roads on the Rhien and Mosel plus a stop at the Oorlog Museum Overloon on the way to the Hook again.

Sorry it a bit long but we had a great time.

Recommended places to visit

Technik Museum Sinshiem . Fascinating you need a whole day its vast you do not need the Imax visit. I cannot explain it, it does not have the things in it you are expecting. It has Planes, Trains Aeroplanes, Bikes, Engines, Tractors, Tanks and more and not just 1 of each there are loads. There is even one of the most expensive cars ever sold a Bugatti Royale it’s on a shelf about 20 feet up in the display area 2. Also to cap it all there is another Museum owned by the same family at Speyer I will be going to that one ASAP.

Porsche Museum . Very good and only 8 Euros.

Oorlog Museum Overloon. Lots of interesting US war time vehicles.

Czech Republic. I will be back.

How to survive, Eat ice cream, German beer, cake, good German food and don’t take tight clothes.

Thanks
