I have the pleasure of passing queuing motorists everyday on my way to work in Johannesburg. During the world cup in 2010 it took 2.5hrs in the car to do 32 kms (19 miles) and I decided then to go back to bikes.
I was lucky and picked up a R1150GS with 24,000 miles on the clock and not looked back since, my trip reduced to 30 minutes door to door.
Only because of forums like this and a few YouTube individuals I started maintaining my own BMW and what a great move it was and I've never looked back, my R1150GS now over 107,000 miles, I just waiting to move back to the UK bringing my GS with me so I can rebuild the final drive.
My car which I bought in 2012 looks brand new and hardly got any miles on the clock.....only gets used on weekends and holidays, people won't believe it when I come to selling it.
