Cylinder Head Cover Removal.

Apologies if this is a daft question, but if I remove a cylinder head cover, how much oil is it likely to lose and is it going to piss out or drip? I need to change one which got scratched when the bloody thing fell over. It’s a LC GSA if that makes any difference.
