Front brake lever not returning fully:

I have a R1200RTP 2008. The front brake lever fails to return fully after use. I have to push it back using my fingers I think that if you don't push it back it will warp the discs. However I dont know the cause as pistons are free. I've undone the disc screws/boltsn them wriggled the discs to make sure are free then secured everything. My brake works but feels soft and lever still wont return fully.

Any advice please

Have you tried bleeding it?
soft, spongy brake is usually air in the brake fluid..
Good luck

Eleven year old bike, when was the fluid last changed. May be time for a master cylinder repair kit and a good clean out.

Have the same problem with my '83 R100. Kit on the bench, just need some time.

1/. Contamination in the piston (normally a crystaline goop).
2/. Blocked by-pass hole
3/. Damaged O ring on piston shaft (often gets damaged during a brake fluid change when the piston travels further than normal).
4/. Dirt.

A 2008 bike should have iABS2, non-servo with the pump assisted ABS.

To fully purge the ABS unit, you should used a GS911 or the dealer service tool to cycle the abs unit.

Cured the brake lever issue

Hi all
Removed master cylinder removed lever pivot bolt. Cleaned pivot with wet n dry lubed and reassembled perfect now.. nothing to do with hydraulics.
