Sorry if this question has been asked previously - (I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer).

If you fit engine crash bars do they have to be removed to get at the cylinder heads for servicing?

All advice welcome.

Thanks.

yes... and I've always wondered if they charge for removing them?.. I do my own so does not matter to me.. but if you're taking it to a dealer??

If you need to check valves, yes. For a regular oil change service you wouldn't have to remove the bars.

If they have to remove them, they will charge you for the time it takes them to do so for sure.

The bars take 2 minutes to remove on each side to access the valve covers, nothing major so really I'd be disappointed if they charged extra for removing them to be honest...

On my last bike the dealer told me that the 2nd year service would require the bars off and that they would charge extra. In the event I traded it in for a 1250 just before the service was due so it didn't affect me.
