Is it OK to use paraffin on modern day O / X ring chains? I know you can get proper chain cleaning sprays but just asking.

Cheers
Joe

I've used paraffin, a rag and a brush on chains for years without problems.

I’ve used paraffin and w rag for years - no problems. Reminds me I need to get some more. Last lot was from Bandq

Yes, paraffin is fine. Been using it on O ring chains for decades - many of the aerosols use paraffin or kerosene as a solvent

You can use paraffin, but with SDOC100 chain cleaner and a proper chain cleaning brush, you’ll get a cleaner chain, with less risk of damaging it.

Just be careful that any brush you use doesn't have any sharp bristles

I used one of the Oxford ones and the bristles were so stiff that they were cutting the 'O' rings :eek:

I now use a cut down soft paint brush.

A tinfoil baking tray under the chain collects most of the paraffin ...

Paraffin OK :thumb
