Corrosion - what do I do to slow or stop it

My 650 is now just over 2 years old and has done a total of 4 k. Basically it is kept inside and seldom used. It had no signs of corrosion until this weekend when it did its first big trip in heavy rain. When I got it home I found that the paint on the forks had flacked away exposing the aluminum.

So what do I do, gentally sand it and spray it. If so with what? There is none of the usual white powderie stuff.

your not meant to use them in the rain -

where do you live that it only rains heavily once every two years -

Corrosion - what do I do to slow or stop it

Keep the bike in a sealed container filled with an inert gas, such as argon, at a steady temperature of -273c. It will stay corrosion free indefinitely.

Use flexible sanding blocks which will shape themselves to the curve of the fork tubes,or Scotchbrite pads. ( having removed the forks from the bike,ideally).

Mask off the fork stanchion and oil seal.

Apply a couple of coats of metal primer.

Then a couple of coats of Smoothrite aerosol silver.

To ice the cake,a couple of coats of aerosol clear polyurethene.
