From what I gather the later grey hiflo and high comp engine is better/stronger and more reliable than earlier black engines fitted from 97-2002/3
They vibrate a lot, bothers some people and not others
The JD replica just looks like a sticker and plaque job and doesn't look any different to the standard bike

They are very tall.
Very very tall. Swampy Marsh (Marsh Performance) down in Torpoint was JD’s spanner man and helped me sort out my ‘99 640. If these are JD bikes he should have dealt with them.
Good solid bikes, front forks are outstanding, needs the keihin carb upgrade to make it really perform. A bit value bey but an incredibly capable bike.
They are very tall!
