Recently there was someone selling an almost new 1250 and it had these engine covers, which look very smart.

What are they exactly?

as above - part of the BMW "billet pack" - there are two designs - best place to see them is on the BMW-motorrad new bike configurator

they are eye-waveringly expensive - the full pack of head covers, front engine cover, mirrors and reservoir caps is £2500

They're the engine covers you throw your own body under to protect them in the event of a topple over.

Do not scratch those

Will it improve performance? and save me from going to the hill to get it topped.?:hide

Can only be added as a factory extra though, and not ordered to embellish your existing machine, fortunately some may say.

They must be available separately. What happens in the event of an accident, when they need replacing?

I was offered the billet pack, far to expensive imo, so didn’t even look at it in the showroom.

Apparently they are designed to reduce camshaft wear and subsequent engine failure plus as a happy coincidence they also stop your spokes falling out and the paint dropping off the rest of the engine

Who the fuck would buy these things at these prices

If you think that's outrageous.... go to the Casino and watch dudes there chuck 10x money on the table.... for nothing.

Now that's nuts
