I've read somewhere that there is a the male counterpart on the bike to the female plug on the Nav V cradle, but I can't find it anywhere.

I've posted an image of the plug on the Nav V cradle.

Would it be possible to splice in a male plug to the wiring loom?

If so, I need to find somewhere to get the male plug, anyone got any ideas, as Motorworks or Motobins, haven't got any.

The bike has currently got a DIN plug mounted just behind the screen, with an in-line fuse.

As a last resort I suppose I could use the DIN plug, but this is not waterproof, (I also do not want to cut the wiring of the cradle).

If I did go the DIN route, what is the best way to go from the 3 pin female on the cradle to a DIN, and how to waterproof it?

Not on the 1150. The plug you seek is only fitted to the R1200, and newer models.

Yes you can, provided you can find the connector. I think it’s an Tyco MQS (Micro Quadlock System) series connector, and the male connector should have a part number close to the corresponding female.

Where you splice it in will depend on how you would like it powered. Permanently or with ignition on.

Hi

Currently doing exact same thing on an 1100.. Same bike for this purpose.

Ian is correct, no corresponding power output on 1100/ 1150.

I got lucky. Local BM dealer had the male part of connector on an old loom they had. Cut it off for me.. Ill just wire this up to a power source. If I hadn't got this I was going to cut the connector off..

Pics below which hopefully help you ID and source the male part of the connector. There's two numbers on it which may help..

Either of the two part numbers provided by RichC should do.

1452049-1 or
2-1452050-1

Be careful though as there are two two key patterns per connector, these are distinguished by different colour connector core. Grey and Black.

(The core is the internal portion which holds the contacts, and not the be confused with the outer part which locks the connector to the other connector)

So provided you go for a connector with a grey core, then you should be OK. There look to quite a few on eBay.

Easiest place on an R1150GS to take power from is the parking light by using piggyback spade connectors. Power is then switched but also available with the ignition off by putting the parking light on. If you are using the connector block on the Nav then hide it under the silver cowl above the headlights.
