dam busters

Oh and I did a twisty route to the Eder, and a lot of the twisty roads in the the forested areas have motorcycle specific speed limits of 50kph now, which is, so I am told, a new thing. They are enforced.
You have been warned.

I had a ball last year visiting the dams and the roads were fantastic. Twisty, great surface and little traffic. 50kph is a tad slow tho’. :(

yes it is very slow, but no doubt in response to accidents from riders who have exceeded their skill quota. It's a shame that it seems a few idiots spoil it for the rest of us.

Oh well, we'll all be in self driving electric cars soon so it won't matter.

Wewelsburg Castle is down the road from Mohnesee.towards Paderborn.. Just dont go on a Monday... its shut
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wewelsburg

The walled town of Soest is also worth staying at and a visit to the Zwiebel Pub/come brewery should be visited
At the Eder - Stop on the north side .. can recommend a cafe Zum Grossen Hecht its only a short walk onto the dam
the south side is touristy
