Bought a new to me bike - what maintenance should I do?

re front wheel bearings check the offside bearing as the seal on that side only seals outer race and water gets in. I posted replacement steps and about the state mine was in last year

swingarm bearings on 2008 bike only have outer seals - quite incredible in my view for adventure bike. as my bike has been through a number of fords over the years mine were wrecked when i took swingarm out

So, I am going to get on with the gaiter replacement this week. Bike is in the garage with the wheel and all mudguard bits off. Once it's light again I will start the proper dismantling.

I was in two minds about whether to just drop the final drive and try and pull the drive shaft and just try to fit the new gaiter that way, but I have decided to have Denz0 rebuild the shock while I have it apart. At 63K miles, it could probably do with it. Everything looks OK under the arse end with the wheel off. A few spots of flaking paint on the coil spring, but that's about it.
