When I crashed my bike off-road, I wasn't wearing any body armour (except neck, elbows, shoulders, back etc)... but nothing protecting ribs, chest, abdomen, kidneys.... guess what, cracked two ribs, punctured my lung and severe internal bruising, all from a 17mph impact.
Anyways, I started looking around for body armour for off-road use. Ended up buying Leatt 5.5 chest protector Pro HD (white for summer use) and the Leatt 5.5 body protector (black for winter use).

Many people complain about these body armour protection because they are HOT.... You wear them very close to the skin, so heat buildup is right against your chest and back. Not good if your boiling and trying to move the bike around in the heat.
So I did some research and came across a company in USA called TacVent.

The Military and Police forces wear body armour in really hot weather, and it's a major problem for them as well.
But a cop in USA developed a shield, that you place between your body and the armour, which allows cold air to be drawn in from underneath, and hot air to escape through the top. Also ideal for motorcycling !!!
Anyways, I've not tested it outside on the bike yet, but I did fit it today and it's comfortable.... and it must add another layer of impact protection as well
