When I crashed my bike off-road, I wasn't wearing any body armour (except neck, elbows, shoulders, back etc)... but nothing protecting ribs, chest, abdomen, kidneys.... guess what, cracked two ribs, punctured my lung and severe internal bruising, all from a 17mph impact.

Anyways, I started looking around for body armour for off-road use. Ended up buying Leatt 5.5 chest protector Pro HD (white for summer use) and the Leatt 5.5 body protector (black for winter use).

Many people complain about these body armour protection because they are HOT.... You wear them very close to the skin, so heat buildup is right against your chest and back. Not good if your boiling and trying to move the bike around in the heat.

So I did some research and came across a company in USA called TacVent.

https://www.tacvent.com/

The Military and Police forces wear body armour in really hot weather, and it's a major problem for them as well.

But a cop in USA developed a shield, that you place between your body and the armour, which allows cold air to be drawn in from underneath, and hot air to escape through the top. Also ideal for motorcycling !!!

Anyways, I've not tested it outside on the bike yet, but I did fit it today and it's comfortable.... and it must add another layer of impact protection as well :thumb2

It can be trimmed to size, but I've not bothered yet as it's very flexible and isn't in the way....

I'm not in my bike gear, but you get the idea how it keeps your body armour away from your skin....

So in theory, as your body heats up, the air and moisture gets carried up and out through those vents.

Cold air replaces the hot air and keeps your body cool, enabling your tactical warrior riding to continue protected and in comfort. :D

Interesting, what's the rough cost ?

Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

$60 USD for the TWIN Shield Pack
$20 USD postage to the UK
£20.60 for Import Duty and Fees

So around £80 delivered. It's the bloody postage and import duty fees that bump the price up.

I'm thinking of combining this TacVent with my Macna Dry Vest.

https://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/507936-Macna-Dry-Cooling-Vest-Evo?highlight=macna

So base layer, then Macna Dry Vest, then Body Armour with TacVent, then Mesh Jacket or Jersey.

Don't know if that'll be too much though. :nenau

The Macna Dry Vest is very good at cooling against the skin, then the TacVent allowing air flow, and best body armour you can get.

Might try some combinations, see what works well.
