Taking the English around the Nc500

We do this a lot.
Usually have a Friday and Saturday night out. Ullapool and Inverness are the fave destinations for an evening beer. (Inverness is bouncing on a Fri/Sat night)
The coast road from the Rest and Be Thankful via Inveraray and up to Ballahulish is Sublime.
The route from Spean Bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh is Great
Ullapool to Durness ... one of the best
You can put an awesome weekend together on any of the roads really, sunshine and warm tarmac will make you smile anywhere up there.
Rain and midges will make it a bot of a grind (we have extra beers in this event!)
April - July best.
Can't go wrong really

You could base yourself in Ullapool doing ride outs from there you'll cover all + some more.

You repeat a lot of the same roads if you base yourself there due to being only a couple of options and some of the roads you don't want to do again, the Drumbeg/Lochinver for example, absolute ballache.

The best part of the route, for me anyway is Kinlochewe / Torridon / Applecross / and over the Bealach na Ba and on to Lochcarron. With a small detour to Lower Diabaig.

Original plans went to pot after one of the guys forgot to tell his Mrs - she booked 2 weeks in the Canaries. Cancelled the setup for the 4 of us, now doing a solo trip.

Ayrshire up to Inverness on the first day via Glenshee
Inverness via Altnaharra to near Melvich
Melvich round to Gairloch (via Wee Mad Road)
Gairloch to Uig (Torridon, Applecross)
Uig to Ardfern (Glencoe, Oban - and the lovely lovely road down to Ardfern)
Ardfern down through Kintyre for a bimble around Crear, back to Tarbert and home.

Looking forward to it now -- B&B / Bunkhouses all the way, with no need to carry tent/sleeping bag etc, so fairly lightly packed on this occasion
