Soooooooo........

Day 1.

Landed from Dubai at 0800 in Manchester.

Drove home to Peak District and had shower and jumped on my pre packed bike and honked it down to Dover via a cake stop and to drop off an x challenge exhaust I put on the free bits near Bisley to a fellow member.

Good to meet you and best of luck with it all, many thanks for the t shirt, you meet the nicest people on here I must say.......

Had a bit of a sweat passing Sandhurst, too much BS and tedious lectures run through my mind.

Sweating also as it’s 26 deg which is great. Like riding in a post Dubai time warp.

Premier inn in Dover dogs knob. 35 quid and all of 45 seconds from check in.

No sleep last night so head down and dream of the Schwarzwald.

Operation Clusterfuck is go......

Rocking it in Dubai on a “traditional” night out in desert. I assume that the locals listen to rap music and drink beer as per this tour.....

Oooh. Weather is crap so....

Right wheel. Take up a heading on 220Deg.

Your next task is to get on the RDGA as advertised by Wapping on a thread I’ve just seen.

Thanks.....

Day 2

Up at 0630 for 0800 ferry.

Mission today is twofold,

1. Make it to northern edge of Black Forest about 450 miles ish

2. Eat at least 12 quids worth of pastry in the lounge on the DFDS ferry. Money well spent.

Weather good all day. Basically honked out the mileage and arrived safe and stuffed from 11 croissants, 2 pain chocolate and 1.5 gallons of coffee and pop.

Utterly knackered so shower and bed.

A great find. Secure parking and basic but v clean room and good WiFi.

Tomorrow is basically Schwarzwald express time.

Not booked yet so I’ll just blast away and see where I end up.

Trip starts tomorrow in my mind really........

Day 3

Rained a lot overnight so headed out into village for walk and get heads up on the weather.

Not a lot about but pleasant enough.

The gas station at end of village is a half decent cafe so I have a cappuccino and read bike mag for an hour to let cars build me a dry line :)

Get going at 1100.

Essentially I just honked it down the 500 Hockenheimer Straße. Roads dry out and fab day had.

After coffee and seeing some serious cuckoo clock porn I look for a place to doss at southern edge.

Todtmoos comes up trumps again with a hotel annex for 25 quid.

The odd shower but very isolated, great day on fab roads.

Re the hotel.......

It has about 60 rooms and check in is in the v swanky main hotel.

On checking in 2 x v attractive oriental girls are ahead of me. I’m praying that they are in the “scumbag” section too, but alas they are obviously loaded and get keys to the main building.

My Fook Mi and Fook Yu fantasy dashed again.

Anyway it’s great but basic, just what I wanted

Last year I stayed in the village, this place is about a mile north so I wander in in a lovely walking track , (take note for later) , and stumble around the village. Eventually go to the same place again.

It’s a nice pizza place, can’t miss it as it has a Ducati 750 SS as a statue.

Pizza, beer, walk back.

Owners are v helpful btw.

On teaching the Hotel Bastardo Fook Mi and Fook Yu have obviously got lost so I browse the map for tomorrow.

Basically I’ll go to a decision point of near Aigle, once there it’s either Where Eagles Dare or the RDGA.

Tune in to see what clusterfucks await tomorrow. ........

Which pannier bags are you using on the crash bar extensions?

Day 4

Wake up early so decide to crack on with it.

Remember the nice walk last night......... well the only road allowing access from the north is closed for repairs so the div is miles around, as happens in hilly areas.

I’m trying hard to remember whether the walking track has any vehicle blocks, and indeed whether it’s doable at all.

Having carefully considered my options for 5 seconds I come down on the side of “bollocks to it, I can’t remember anything too arduous, let’s go”

It’s a bit steep in places and a bit gnarly but I bluff my way down, no walkers about yet. Exiting Todtmoos I set nav for Leysin Switzerland and blunder off not really having a clue what to expect.

Just how I like it.

The weathers good for a bit I know, the rest I can blag.

Nothing booked for tonight, weather will determine that.....
