Ride carefully to the next specialist workshop....

I read it on the pages of UKgser, you can hand it back and demand a full refund as the bike isn't fit for purpose.

Or you can have it collected, fixed and returned a few days later, without the risk of it failing en route and having to wait at the dealers or worse, finding a faulty part and have to go home and come back a few days later.

When I had this message it turned out to be a sticking flap in the exhaust,
BMW Wollaston fitted new headers, all good since, now with 9000 miles up.

Had the same message on my 5 week old 1250gsa yesterday.turned out to be a low voltage warning.dealer cleared it and so far its not reappeared..and its charging at 14.3v

Had it with mine. Took to dealer and they upgraded software. No,issues since

Same here :thumby: It only happened once after about 4500 just as I stopped the engine. It cleared immediately once I’d switched it off and on again, but I got it checked out and Allan Jefferies updated the software.

don't charge or battery up.if its fucked then bmw will change it.there is only 12 month warranty on the battery

Well it’s fuelled and charged and the message is still there.
Dealer collecting next week.

It seems this is a default text when the system doesn’t know what the problem is. In IT language when they don’t know the source of the problem they tell you to reboot.

Had this problem on 2019 Rally after 1000 miles.
Dealer re set software and sent me on my way.
After 500 miles it came on again while I was in Brittany but I got home ok.
Dealer changed the fuel pump and it has been fine now on 7000 miles.

So problem solved.
Dealer picked up bike and returned it same day.
Issue was a software update.
As always my view is that things go wrong with any mechanical device, no matter what brand.
Where the difference comes is how it is dealt with. BMW in my experience have always been ace. That’s what makes them the ‘premium’ brand, and keeps my loyalty.
So big thumbs up for Marshall’s at Grimsby.

So, how come my 2017 GSA has never needed a Software Update?

Dunno.
Neither did my non TFT 2017 GSA.

I’ve come round to the TFT and actually quite like it but would have been just as happy without it but it’s not an option now.

I'm starting to wonder if this TFT malarky is a Trojan Horse, because all the "return to dealer" bollocks is a bit much, like they're do you a favour.

My 1250 Bandit has NEVER been to the dealers and its 10 years old next year. Never had a software update or diverted because of dodgy messages.

BMW are taking the piss with this, and it's another stranglehold onto their Warranty Game.

In fact, the way bike prices have doubled in the past 7 years, and increasing dependancy on Warranty and dealers..... I'll stick with the older Pre-Euro 5 stuff.

Meant to quote post 34....
