Hi All
This could save you a fortune it did for me.
My 2013 F800GS adventure had a traction control fault every time I rode it.
Normally after about ten miles it would cut in a few times then the whole traction control ABS system would cut out. A real pain and the estimates for sorting it ran into the thousands.
I was at a dealer getting it checked when a random conversation with a very helpful guy identified the source, you won’t believe this, but worth checking if you have this issue. This guy had spent months getting his sorted by BMW they had to send specialists engineers to find it.
He said check under the seat, because my problem was caused by a spanner BMW slot in the underside of the seat, the edge of the spanner was digging into the wiring loom, so I checked and guess what, yes the spanner is there, and one corner is polished up where it was digging into my wiring loom.
He had warned me that the external part of the loom would look OK, but it was the conductive wires inside that were damaged.
When I removed the spanner my fault has gone away, fingers crossed, I’ve done four decent rides, of 40 to 150 miles without reoccurrence.
Even if the loom needs repair or replacement, at least I know where the problem is now, as the dealer was scratching his head, and the costs would have been huge.
Hope this helps kind regards John, if you need more info johnconwaybmw@gmail.com
