After removing the gearbox end cover on a '77 gearbox, I noticed that there is a wear groove in the throwout bearing bore. The groove is about 2mm wide the full circumference of the bore.
My guess would be that a radial bearing has failed in the past.
The groove doesn't seem to be in an area where the pushrod seal contacts, so is this a problem?
A new cover has a totally smooth bore, another used cover I have has exactly the same groove.
Any opinions, please?
