Africa Twin Touratech Extreme Suspension

Did you not get a recall about this or has your replacement gone awol ?

Yes I did thanks. Bike was fine had recall done clip fell off first time I used it (not happy, ring dealer they send out new clip) I fit the new one and it too come off but while sway in Italy. So out came the cable ties to get me home. I still need to ring dealer for another :blast

Forks were removed today, and shipped off to have the TT Extreme Cartridges fitted.

So might even have the bike rebuilt by Saturday...

Picture of the poor bike without its legs earlier today....

Got my Touratech Extreme cartridges back this afternoon with the new SKF fork seals fitted as well.

The technician told me there were signs of wear on the inside of the fork stanchions, but it was minimal and nothing to worry about. The bushes were like new, so no bad wear.

He fitted the closed circuit cartridges and didn't use the 15W oil that the kit comes with. He said it's better to use 5W oil, as the main oil is already in the sealed cartridge kit, he said 5W would be better as it's only really used for lubricating the seals. So we'll see how we go with that for now. The air gap was set for 'Off Road' use.

I don't like the gold forks, so I re-wrapped them with Carbon Vinyl and put some brand new Kriega Fork Seal Guards back on.

A couple of photo's of the Rebound and Compression dials at the top of the forks. All looking neat and nice alongside the Scotts Steering Damper Control.

You need to wrap that steering damper as well.

When's the first ride report on the suspension?

Don't know. Waiting for some M6 button bolts for the Altrider fork guards, get them refitted with front wheel.

Next Saturday I hopefully taking bike over to technician again to set it all up properly, Sag, Rebound, Compression, fast/slow settings.

After that it's just down to weather temperatures and safe riding opportunities

Got the front wheel and guards back on this morning.... So it's ready to ride :beerjug:

looking good mr warlord. I can see new set of tubeless wheels in your future must be the only unblinged bit left :p

Cheers :thumb2

Nah, I'm ok with tubeless at the moment.

Might treat it to a new exhaust over Christmas.

Other than that, it's pretty good just to get on with my off-road adventures for 2020.

I still want to visit JonnyBoxer up north for a few days, see what they get up to....

Went out on Saturday to try out these new Touratech suspension.

I checked all the settings to make sure Pre-load was at zero... High Speed and Low Speed Compression and Rebound on the rear shock was setup... Front Compression and rebound was setup... Scotts Steering damper at factory recommended settings and tyre pressures correct.

What a really nice initial ride. Sag felt correct, soaked up little bumps with ease. Some bigger bumps were a 'bit harsh' but I'll start dialling it in now.

Very pleasant surprise and well worth the money.

I'm glad you think so, it's to be hoped it bounces better after that investment.

Yeah, doesn't always work out that way.... but this kit is very good :thumb2
