The annual anger fest has began with the insurance needing renewal. I used one of those search sites and found the cheapest policy for my 2017 TE to be with Express Insurance. It would appear the actual underwriters are Marker study.

I've never heard of them. Has anyone else got any experience of them please?

Thanks. :thumb:thumb

Update: Marker Study get some of the worst reviews overall for an insurance company that I have ever seen!! Best to avoid I think.

Whilst the endeavour is to save money on insurance Im sure many rue the day a few tenners stood between them and a proper insurance service.

At Express Insurance services, we’re avid biking enthusiasts like you. We know that your bike needs specialist cover. And it’s that knowledge that has made us one of the UK’s established bike insurance policy providers.

In short, by bikers, for bikers...... Which should be enough to put most people off.

But hey, what's this....

Express Insurance Services is a trading name of Carole Nash Insurance Consultants Limited for motorbike insurance policies. An application has been filed to register Express Insurance Services and the Express Insurance Services logos as trademarks of Carole Nash Insurance Consultants Ltd.

Bods on this site love or loath (it depends on how ripped-off they feel from minute to minute) Carole Nash.

If it suits YOU in your annual battle to pick on La Nash, then do it. If it doesn't, then don't. It really is that simple, even for a 'biking enthusiast', like you.

PS Markerstudy, all one word, are something different. Read about them here: https://www.markerstudy.com/policyholders/about-us/part-of-the-markerstudy-group-of-companies

Yeah, I noticed that in my research. Would I be right in thinking that if you took out a policy with Carole Nash, you would deal with them, not Markerstudy? I've seen loads of thumbs up for Carole Nash policies on this site but it's put me off if the underwriter is Markerstudy.

you usually deal with the broker for a claim but if you look at the Markerstudy website they have a claims handling service as well

have you asked the broker to give you the "next best" quote with a different underwriter? Any decent broker will sell policies from multiple underwriters. You might need to use the telephone...

In brief, yes.

Day-to-day, you’d with CN, as the broker (intermediary / facilitator / wagon load of chimps / skilled practitioner) between you and your insurer, Markerstudy.

Wapping/Wessie: thank you. I think I am going to have to pick up the phone, even though with some insurers, this method will cost an extra £30!!

not always, the sales person might be able to discount the 2nd best policy to match the Markerstudy price by cutting their commission rather than risk you going to a competitor.
