Airbox question

Hi all,

I'm put my '82 r80g\s back together and want to know when bolting the airbox to the back of the engine (upper bolts x2), should it have washers between the airbox and engine? In both Haynes and Clymer manuals it states there should be, but mine didn't have any! If it needs them any idea what thickness they should be?

Just plain washers, standard size not large o/d type, also known as Form A

Mine are quite thick ones. Although you can put a few on to make it up.

Not sure of exact thickness though.

That Real OEM seems to me to be wrong, as it shows washers at both sides of the airbox. As tufty says , on all my airheads these are special thick washers, probably as thick as three thick 'machine' washers.
FWIW 58 pence is a lot for a standard washer, and there is nothing on the list to suggest that the are a standard item.
