looking at a 2010 30th anniversary bike the chap told me has the float gauge for the fuel tank is that correct ? for the fuel gauge etc

Yes, they went back to float gauges with the twin cams. I don't remember from which model year though.
My 2010 anniversary had a fuel strip. It failed but was then OK for 35,000 miles. Not sure when they changed to a float?
Wouldn't worry too much about the Fuel Gauge.
If the price and Bike are right, JFDI.

I believe they went back to floats for 2012 model year.....right at the last knocking they sorted it
Exactly, dont be swayed by a fuel strip.
I would be more concerned with the final drive , check the play , factor 400-500 for a rebuild , also if esa suspension at 10 years old factor a refurb.
