Spain - the wedding party.

The Infantado hasn't changed much since I was last there, other than the bathroom's been refurbished by a blind plumber using cheap materials and the water from the shower sprays everywhere, no matter what you do. Soggy toilet roll anyone? The fascia and the terrace haven't changed

It's busy with general tourists and quite a few bikers spending, mostly Irish and Brits hanging around until their given ferry date and either drinking on the balcony or swanning about the Picos. In fact it's so full that when Annie and Mr Smooth catch up with us they have to book an apartment across the road.

On our travels though both northern Spain and northern and central Portugal, it has been apparent that the local bar/restaurant always seems to have dining room far far larger than would seem necessary, because just about everyone in the locale goes there to eat lunch. Must be because it saves them the long trek to buy food at a supermarket

That’s a very good point!

JB's posted an excellent report on the Picos so I'll try to keep this short. Some landscape and the bikes:

Monday's ferry day and a late boarding, with a three hour delay due to a 'medical incident' which becomes a four and a half hour delay. So we kill time playing in the Picos before crossing the autoroute at Reinosa and running along the huge lake/reservoir to the East of it. A lazy lunch at the side of the lake where we negotiate a platter of cured hame, cheese and bread, before relenting and dropping into the chaos which is Santander Ferry port:

The ferry back makes up a bit of time and we emerge into the damp, cold, dusk of a Plymouth evening digging out clothing we'd forgotten we'd packed. To avoid the long run North Annie had booked us into The Flying Fish at Ilminster the landlady of which kindly kept the kitchen open until we arrived and looked after us very well. My last hotel recommendation.

Thanks to Magnet and Micky for the pictures. Thanks also to the afore mentioned Mike, Bilko, Mr Smooth and Annie for their company and humour.

Finally for those of you who've endured to the end of this report well done. And for those who didn't well done anyway!

Good one Tony, great report and photographs :thumb

It seems like years ago now ...

Thanks bud. Great pictures and story telling. No better way to spend 30 minutes with a nice cup of tea and biscuits, pondering your journey. I am only familiar with the Picos area so took notes. Cheers !! :thumb:thumb
