My Kaspersky Anti-Virus has gone up to £28.00 (with discount )....always used them.

Is there another 'cheaper' way to obtain protection? Pub talk last night
was that I was a fool to pay £28.00 :blagblah

Any recommendations?

If you have BT broadband you get McAfee for free, also some bank accounts give away free AV software.

If you really want to go freeware then ClaimAV with the free version of Ad-Aware

Not necessarily cheaper, but buy a Mac and forget about viruses.

Believe this and you'll believe anything. No OS is 100% secure 100% of the time. I run AVG on my Mac and Kaspersky on my Windows laptop (both free versions).

And antivirus software doesn't give 100% protection either, but does bring a host of problems.

In hundreds of mac-years of experience I never saw a virus and don't know anybody who did.

Kaspersky free ...

Have a look on Amazon for a multi-year deal with one of the proprietary Anti-Virus companies.

You can quite often get a multi-machine/multi-year code for better than you are quoting.

No need to be paying for AV software.

Check out this site - used it a lot for various utilities and Antivirus software products.

https://www.cnet.com
click on the Download link from the menu on the top line and it takes you to the link below.

In addition to Anti-Virus software I'd also recommend you to download and run anti-Malware software. Thats the secret shit that gets downloaded to your computer when you surf onto websites which are of questionable content. Malware needs to be cleared off the machine on a regular basis as all it does is spy on your activity and slows the machine down.

CrapCleaner (CCleaner) is also a worthwhile product to install and run. Again it removes a shit load of unwanted files from the computer and keeps things nice and healthy.

Enjoy.

Yep theres a free version if you want the limited version or there are other options.
You dont say which version bu the base version is £22.49 to update and there are multi devive/multi year options available on the like of Amazon from around £25

Mind pub mates are just like forum mates in that they always know better than everyone else

Never have paid for AV protection and never (well, nearly never) had a problem. These days I just let Windows 10 take care of it.
Whenever i have bought a PC and it came with Kapersky for a trial period i have always uninstalled it immediately.

Hi
A little late but I purchase key on ebay. Costs around 6 pounds or 1 computer 1 year.
If it is not available in the UK just go to Ebay.com.au and purchase key. Use your VPN and set to any Australian city and download the version you purchased the key for and install and apply the key. No need to keep the VPN any more and works world worldwide. Works for me!
