My Fuel filler cap is on its last legs,91 100GS the lockable flush mounted type , was wandering if anyone has fitted the plastic aftermarket filler cap as sold by Motorworks and other suppliers . I have had the originals rust and get stuck in the tank on a bike I stored in my garage, thought the plastic type may be a better option and BMW don't sell the originals any more

My filler cap got stuck once, eventually freed itself after I put wd40 in the lock and let it soak. I've since discovered graphite spray is a great thing for locks.

If lock is just turning and cannot be removed ( slightly off topic )...stand on the footrests and thread some strong rope through the handle of the cap. Brace and yank hard....lock will come out whole
