Operation Saddo - Sod this I'm off again..........

Day 2

So docked in the dark to a murky and damp start. Still, goretex up and get going.

The ferry floor was as slippery as Corbyn answering a question on brexit.

The port was efficient, why do we always turn it into a total cake and arse party in the UK, clowns that we are

Got to get miles done today so it’s just burn down the Dual carriageway and zone out

New bike going sweetly. A more refined ride than my GSA.

Rain stops after 25 mins and just damp roads to contend wth. Max 2 deg AOB imposed :).

See if we can make Limoge ish tonight ...

I want to visit the WW2 village tomorrow....

You off to Oradour ? That’ll cheer you up ! :)

I know the feeling, split with my g/f a few weeks back. She was lovely too but too many obstacles and I want to be able to bugger off on the bike a bit without getting clearance first !! Though possibly not in November.Nutter !

Ride safe.

Thanks guys.

So far so lucky with weather, long may it continue.

Headed to Lourdes tomorrow.

Will drink some magic water and toast your loved ones good health

I went through Lourdes a few years ago but didn't stop long, there is a nice wee place called Laruns not too far away, water may not have cured anything but the magic beer was cheaper and it wasn't full of the hopeful busloads of pilgrims

Hope the weather gets better for you, after all we want some decent photo's to make us feel jealous :comfort

Oh yea, and sorry about whatever her name was :augie

You're correct; she was (still is I'm sure) lovely!

I’m not complaining. It’s damp but not raining. I’ll take that in late Nov :)

Onwards and I book a lowly hovel for 23 quid just north of the village.

Outline plan, get a kip, get up, do village, crack on.

The accommodation looks quaint on line, we shall see.

95 Ron and Bel Vita administered, thankfully to the correct respective receptacles.

Hopping on and let’s as Stich Jones (the Ayotolah of Rock and Rolla) would say...

“Let’s do some distance”

So it stays damp but doesn’t rain.

I’ll take that.

Booking . Com Arse up the position of the hovel again, so I spend 20 mins bimbling round hoping to recognise it from the photo.

Eventually the most helpful man in France shows me where it is, as ever it was about 500 metres from where I’d parked and googled it.

Anyway, owners cool, I’m basically staying in their spare room which is attached to the lounge, just a curtain separating.

Clean warm and decent shower, Mrs Owner looks a bit odd when I walk through in my pants to get a shower, still, early Noel treat for her.

Get head down, it’s going to be quite a long day tomorrow I think. ......

Day 3

Good kip and Madam makes me a coffee as I load up.

I give her a good hose down as she was very dirty yesterday, (bike not house owner), then head 5km into Ordour.

I met a GS bod in Peak District who told me about this place, I’m a bit ashamed to say I’d never heard of it, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Hosing administered, let’s go and get cultured.....

Les Francais do like a self-service car wash. Now a necessary fixture, alongside a florist, chemist and optician in any self-respecting French town.

I’m always excited when I see one of those blue elephants at side of road.

I need to socialise more me thinks

Did you talk to them about your relationship woes?
We won't judge you if you had a threesome, we've all been on the rebound at some time or another!
Reckon she enjoyed it more than him though

Thanks Sutty.

Hah, I’d had a long damp day so “sexy time” defo not happening :)

Anyway.....

So the Villsge itself, I’m sure many have been, but for the others...

Basically the bad guys decided to kill all village inhabitants, it was then left as was as a kind of shrine and memorial I guess.

It sits on the edge of the new village.

The attached museum was good, but I wanted to go see the village mainly.

It’s an eerie place. Wrecked buildings and a scattering of bits of machinery, cars etc etc.

I don’t want to sound like a peasant........but it doesn’t take long to get round it, and there is an element of, oh another wrecked building.....

That having been said it’s fascinating to see and nice that the villagers have been remembered.

Overall I’d recommend it.
