Pegged by the wife photo ? ;)

Do you still have your 790 Giles ??

There is one local to me, 18 plate with only 600 miles on it for 6K, seems like a steal.

That's a decent price for a low mileage one. Is it a private sell or dealer?
Best I could find local to me in the opposite end of the UK was just under £6k for a 2018 with more miles than your one.

I was going to go for a 390 Duke but having sat on one today I'm edging towards the 790. The 390 feels too cramped and the seat was awful and the prices of the 790 are only a tad higher than the 690.

I've ridden one and the cracking engine led me to buy a 790 Adventure. I've sold that now as I don't need to take luggage and pillions.

Both bikes are in a dealers. My issue with buying a used one out of warranty is, it's put of warranty. Reading on various FB pages/forums the 790 doesn't come without it's problems, oil/coolant leaks seem to be the main issue so buying such a low mileage bike out of warranty tells me it hasn't got a chance to have any leaks yet, in saying that, there is a guy on the 790 page has got a leak after only 150 miles :blast

*EDIT Just re read my previous post, I never mentioned they have a new, unregistered 19 model at £7K

I think it shares the engine with the 790 Adventure but with tweaks to get more bhp from it. I had a coolant leak on mine in high temps in Spain as the thermostat was faulty and leaked coolant when riding above about 30C. That was replaced under warranty and the rest of the faults, and there were many, were related to cycle parts rather than engine or KTM stuff. So, brake master cylinder leaked, dash misted up, rear brake binded and overheated. The Duke uses a different dash and the rar brake problem was diagnosed by KTM as a defective brake line and there was a recall for it but I think the Duke again uses a different hose length.

I think I'd be tempted by the unregistered 2019 one - at least then you'll have 2 years warranty.

Took a demo of the 790 today and it was sublime, apart from a rather uncumfy seat and absurdly low gear lever it was a dream of a bike, the quick shifter is a million times better than anything BMW have produced that I've ridden, seems you've barely got to look at the thing and it changes gear.

Christ knows what the 1290 Duke must be like but this things pulls easily and at speeds where you won't get the jail for, once you get near or into triple figures the nakedness takes over and you're struggling to hold on, which is a good thing as it's a licence keeper.

Would/will I buy one ? Much thought needs to go in to it as I had another shot on a 390 duke today and that's just a riot that thing yet not crazy fast.

The demo was enough for me, didn't like the orange wheels on the black 2020 model so a call this morning had me picking this newbie up this afternoon.

Cheers, thought the 2020 colour in black with orange wheels just looked out of place, also, no need to stress about having to clean bright coloured wheels which as anyone who has owned a bike that has them, is a major PITA.

Nice colour combo.

Did you get any discount with it being a 2020 model? My local dealer has one orange 2019 left for £6999 new. I'm tempted but don't like the colour and would need a decent PCP deal really.

It's a 2019 model, which is exactly the same as the 2020 model just different colours, I paid £7K, just seemed too good a deal to turn down, free first service, 2 year warranty, everyone's a winner.

Yep, I've not seen anything better than that, so a good deal. Even some 2018 used ones are £6k plus so paying a bit more for a new bike and 2 year warranty is bang on.

After the problems I had with my 790 Adventure I'm not sure I'd want one without a decent warranty.

Fast enough for fun but not crazy jail sentence stuff and anything above 90+ you're holding on for grim death which is pretty shite, bit of weather luck and I'll have it run in by next weekend :drool
