As I said in the other post,we have 2 paralever Gs to play with this winter.
This one is/was an 80,
The owner has used it as intended and the bike has been to South Africa numerous times.
Further big trips are planned so reliability and a few upgrades are the order of the day.:D
So almost a year after these forks were removed from another inmates bike,I’ve found a suitable home for them:cool:
Bit of a dry fit ,roughing out mounting brackets etc .
The forks will be rebuilt prior to the bike being used

Can I have one please??
Great work on this, as always.

After numerous conversations between customer, myself and Richie Moore,we came up with the perfect spec for this motor.
Our customer wanted a 1070 kit fitting,I had massive concerns with this as the bike will be well travelled, with potential for crap fuel.the 1070 kit has oversized pistons which without going into detail would end up with poor squish and potentially quite high compression .
Not a good mix in Africa.
So,,,,,,
We have bored the barrels to 95 mm,giving a full 1000 cc.
The heads have been reworked from their original 800cc spec to keep compression at a sensible ratio, gas flowed with new guides and resized valves and seats,we will be going up to 40 mm bings,
Yum,yum

Hi Mikey

Any update, particularly interested in the front end - looks like a Bas / Hyperpro set up - and does it use his triple clamps?

Is the brembo from a 690 KTM or BMW 800?

Thanks for any update, info...!

I’m unsure of the origins of the yokes,I bought the front end complete from another forum user,
But the forks are wp5060.
The caliper is a p5 iirc,Oe fitment to a lot of Ducati’s

Caliper

Mikeyboy, pretty sure that caliper's a P4, with 40mm mounting points & 34/30 pistons. As you say, fitted to a load of Ducatis from about 1991 onwards.
The P5 was an earlier twin piston incarnation as fitted to a lot of middleweight Italian stuff in the 70/80's
P4 still available new irom Italy, just fitted one with the HE big brake kit to my r100gs. Cost about 125 Euro delivered, inc. pads, pretty good value I reckon.

BTW, what sort of CR is the bike going to end up with? Interested as I'm looking at something similar for my GS, currently considering RM's Omega kit but think the CR would be too high unless I start mucking about with ignition systems. (Available fuel 92 octane)

Cheers

Whatever you do it is best to have the squish set correctly, and if you do that RMs Omegas are going to work better than anything else which is around.
Nothing will be exactly cheap, so you may as well be certain that what you do is right!

No updates for a while..... we all want to see the next instalment.

So, where were we ,
Some up to date photos,
Engine /gearbox is built, and fitted with a ceramic paddle clutch to handle the extra power.
Engine spec,
1001 cc omega race pistons,
Morespeed gas flowed heads with valves etc,
Morespeed 328 cam
Gearbox rebuilt with low 1st and high 5th
