Bit of useless info for you but I could not find a substantial 4mm bash plate for the GS as havent been made yet which is a little strange but I adapted the 1200GS XL expedition guard from touratech.
As the front pipes are different being shorter and wider at the bottom on the 1250 if you get a 1200 version and cut off the upper small section it fits superbly and could be cheaper when it does come out.
