I'm finally getting around to some new tyres on my old T3 Cali and am liking the look of the Metz Lasertecs and I mean 'look' as I'm after something that looks reasonably period(wish) for the bike, certainly no 'modern' style tread pattern and/or aspect ratio.

Now I'm sure there are 'better' tyres out there but I just wondered if anybody had any experience of these, as long as there are no horror stories then I'll be happy.

Oh, and sizes? I intend sticking to old skool sizes so does 100/90 front, 110/90 rear sound right?

Had one resembling the front on a GN 400 Suzuki 30 odd year since, can't remember what was on the back but it was Metz.
I couldn't fault them, much lighter bike mind.
Hopefully they haven't made them worse.

I love the Avon Roadriders, had on the convert & SP3.
Will also fit them to the Strada if I keep it..
And made in England..

Used them on my k1100 all the time. Never had any complaints.

Lazertec are shite, made in Brazil from old banana skins and soot, nothing like the me33/99 of old.

Try Bridgestone bt45.

Gotta love the internet ;) Thanks for the feedback though :)
Having said that I've had a peak at reviews on the web now and where as they used to get decent enough reviews in the past few years they seem to get quite poor ones........................

They don't look tooooooo modern (but not as nice as the Metz's) but, given the above, worth a punt. What sizes do you run 'cos the Avon website only lists the following (yet your picture shows a size they don't list ). Ideally I want to run 100/90 front, 110/90 rear.

Edit: BT45's come in the sizes I want and don't look too modern :thumb2

Bridgestone BT45 :thumb2

Yeah, agreed, I ran them on the Lemans and they were great......it's......just................I soooo liked the high sidewalls and old skool tread pattern on the Metz's, they just looked so right on the old Cali. Anyway, BT45s it is :thumb2

i used metz on my cali metal from new ...always liked them , didn't like bt45's , @ 50 k miles i tried a set of 45's , haven't fitted anything else since , my breva 750 has bt's , i'd put bt's on my sportster when the avons wear out. my 1200 sport is getting bt's when the shit pirelli's are worn out too.
the metz are outdated , they don't last any longer than the bt's, grip in the wet is worse , white line when half worn , they were good 20 years ago.

You need something with white walls, that's what you need. :thumb2

These are (so I understand) a modern compound but with the old look of tt100. No idea what they’re like though.Original tt100 I think is supposed to be shit:nenau

Looking for some for my 1970 Ambo. 4.00 X 18. Mate told me yesterday about Portawall, kind of a slip on whitewall. Never heard of such a thing until yesterday. Anybody ever tried these?
