After a (thankfully failed) attempted theft of my R1150GS last night, I need to replace my ignition switch/barrel/assembly. Does anyone know what other models share the same assembly?

Cheers, Martin

I may have just answered my own question by looking on the Motorworks website (that'll teach me to Google before I post...!) - they list the housing as compatible between the following models

Do you need the complete ignition housing or just the internal ignition/key barrel ?

Probably the whole lot at first glance - the steering lock pin fell out when the RAC arrived to help me out (we ended up chopping wires to hotwire it as the key couldn't be turned in the barrel - easy enough to solder back up if needs be). I need to fully assess the damage at the weekend though to be 100% sure...

The worst thing is that I'd left my Shoei on the helmet lock (had gone to my daughters parents evening at college and filled the top box with boots and trousers) and the bike ended up on its side crushing my helmet :( Less than a year old too. Bother.

The ignition housing is held in place with two security bolts.

To remove it take off the top yolk, drill a 4mm hole 6mm deep into the centre of the security bolt. Then hit a suitably sized torq bit into the hole and undo. Saves lots of time and faff of drilling out the complete bolt.

Thanks Steptoe, probably saved me a lot of swearing and cussing right there!!

Thought I was going to get away with just the ignition switch assembly, but the top yoke was damaged too (one of the lugs that the ignition switch assembly bolts in to had snapped)... Ah well, replacement ordered from eBay (yoke and ignition switch as one), and at least I can reuse my ignition barrel, thus keeping my single key operation for everything!
