The optimate end is called an SAE but I don’t know what the female jack socket end is called. I know you can buy a genuine cable for £14.00, but if it’s just a standard connection I might be able to find an aftermarket equivalent.

Just buy the Keis one.
Or the Warm and Safe one.
Etc.
Not worth the waste of time searching for something generic when the jack plug end could have one of 3 internal sizes and one will work both ways but the other won’t.....

Are the Keis and Gerbing plugs the same ?

They are called, DC connectors.

Old style Optimate, is a TM connector

New style Optimate is an SAE connector

Gerbing, Keis etc use a DC connector

There is a very good chance they are, yes.

Chances are they are not too.
You get 2.1mm, 2.3mm and 2.5mm internal pin sizes.
Some will work with the others but not the other way.
Keis and BMW are
Keis and Warm n Safe are not
Gerbing might be
Might be cheaper but if it’s the wrong size then it’s more expensive as you then have a cable that’s the wrong size AND another that isn’t when you go and buy the right one afterwards

That’s true.

I just thought the fellow could post it back for a full refund if it didn’t fit.

But, as ever, the true answer - and the solution - is out there....

https://www.keisapparel.co.uk/product/keis-male-to-generic-female/

(5.5 x 2.1) Keis male plug to (5.5 x 2.5) Generic (E.g. Gerbing) female plug

Quite why he doesn’t just spend £7 or so more on one that will work straight off the bat is a mystery. But hey, every penny helps.

Two possible outcomes.... :rocketwho:chickendance

It seems:

Keis have 2.1 mm

Gerbing have 2.5 mm

Assuming that is they don’t change them.

I've Ordered this https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/399749

Later in the week we will know for sure.

Thanks for the input.

That's the same part I linked to on the Gerbing site.

I have Keis & Gerbing gear. I mix & match and they work fine. I'm using a Gerbing Y piece on the output from my Keis controller to split the current between my Keis jacket and Keis insoles.

I use Gerbing heated gloves on my XR as I do not have muffs on that bike. These are powered from a Keis lead connected to the battery.

And there we have it... Wessie confirms they are interchangeable, so something did change.

Blazewear also compatible with Gerbing.
