I think it’s the right call for the country, too many fcukwits wanting to stand beside each other & the health service already creaking at the seams, but it’s going to be hard for the business even with the government’s help
Ah well, there’s more important things than money. Funny you only realise that as you get older

To honest with ya Jochen, I'm sitting here watching Ozark and I strangely lookin forward to the minimum 2 weeks off work. The money tap being reduced to a trickle for a while will hurt....but as you say...that seems less important as you get older.

Not being able to ride the bike is going to be tough but in the greater scheme of things, it's a tiny sacrifice.

This is the essential retail list.
The full business list to follow during Saturday.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has recommended that all non-essential retail outlets will close to members of the public and all other retail outlets are to implement physical distancing.

To assist the public and business owners the following is an indicative list of what are considered essential retail outlets.

Details in relation to other sectors (eg construction) will be published later today.

Essential retail outlets

1. Retail and wholesale sale of food, beverages and newspapers in non-specialised and specialised stores

2. Retail sale of household consumer products necessary to maintain the safety and sanitation of residences and businesses

3. Pharmacies/Chemists and retailers providing pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical or dispensing services

4. Retail sale of selling medical and orthopaedic goods in specialised stores

5. Fuel stations and heating fuel providers

6. Retail sale of essential items for the health and welfare of animals, including animal feed and medicines, animal food, pet food and animal supplies including bedding

7. Laundries and Drycleaners

8. Banks, Post Offices and Credit Unions

9. Retail sale of safety supply stores (work clothes, Personal Protective Equipment, for example)

***Businesses that can only offer emergency call-out or delivery services***

It is recognised that there may be emergency needs arising in a number of areas, the following retailers who can offer an emergency call-out or delivery service can continue to operate on that basis ONLY:

opticians/optometrist

retailers involved in the repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles and bicycle repair and related facilities (tyre sales and repairs for example)

hardware stores, builder’s merchants and stores that provide hardware products necessary for home and business maintenance,

sanitation and farm equipment,

supplies and tools essential for gardening/farming/agricultureretail

sale of office products and services for individuals working from home and for businesses retailers providing electrical, IT and phone sales, repair and maintenance services for home.

Physical distancing measures that must be adhered to

Essential Retail Outlets must implement physical distancing measures:-

ensure adequate distancing between customers and shop assistants in line with public health guidelines

only let people into the store in small groups and ensure spaces are not crowed

manage queue control inside and outside the door to maintain necessary physical distance.

all Essential Retail Outlets are encouraged to provide online services where that is possible and appropriate to minimise footfall.

Its a 2k limit for exercise, you can exceed this to care for vulnerable groups or do your shopping.

The world is being told to hit the pause button, might aswell try and enjoy

There should be more important things than money, but the world's function depends on money... strange times indeed, but after the dust settles the billionaires will have us all back to our stations in no time, no doubt even deeper and longer in debt to them...

It had to happen I suppose in order to control the selfish fuckwits who endanger everyone else.

Makes my job a lot easier though with feck all traffic on the road. :)

We have been told that our factory will close on 3 April and reopen on 15 and we have to use 5 days holiday so we will not be benefiting from the bail out the extra two days are the bank holiday ,hope the management aren’t claiming anything from government.
I think we should be closed as we only make aircraft parts so not really essential.

My job is non essential (bike instructor). My client for today called me last night after seeing the news and told me he could go ahead with his IBT course because his job was essential (broadband provider). Took a longer-than-you-might-expect discussion before he understood that we couldn't go ahead because my job was non essential... :blast

Has anyone got a link they can share for all of this?

Finally found out how to remove the annoying signature everytime I post.....

I spent yesterday fitting a new battery to the bike. I haven't been out properly since last November. I'll spend tomorrow disconnecting it as the bike will be laid up for the next 4 weeks at least.
I won't have time to read any books or binge on Netflix as I'll be up to my tonsils in work until all this over. Provided that is I don't catch it myself or end up isolated in which case the pharmacy will be closed for 2 weeks at least with no money for me.
When all this is over I'm having a holiday!

Phase four – 20 July

With regard to community health measures, the document advises that during phase four travel can be extended to outside a person’s region.

So, hopefully we can all do the wild atlantic way in late July

Extension to 20km might allow me to get a few photorally points done. The Dublin one is close enough to do on my electric bike! :D
Might have a new version of the photorally. Do as many points as possible using backroads and avoiding Garda checkpoints. :toungincheek
