Final drive oil... Will this be ok?

Im looking to change the oil in the final drive and Gearbox on my 2009 r1200gs

Will this be ok?

I used 75w 140 myself 800ml in gearbox and 200ml in bevel drive

Only the early ones without the breather fitted.

I had a 2013 Twin cam Im sure they recommended 220ml for it but 200 was more than adequate.

The stuff they recommend is cheaper. There is no good reason I have seen to use a different grade from BMW recommendation

Mine doesn't have a breather and is 180ml after BMW changed guidance

Hang on a minute, did i or didnt i recommend the Syntrax oil ?? I used the add i posted mearly as an example :nenau

I used 75w140 because at the time i got it at the same price as the 75w 90. A better spec oil cant be a bad thing. Remember bmw did not recommend service of the bevel because it was supposed to be sealed for life. We all know that was bollox.

I gave up with all the less viscous stuff and just bung 180~ 190ml of 90W140 GL5 in all the 1200 FDs and whatever fills up to the threads on a 1150 type one

its Good old fashioned heavy gloopy GL5 schite

Since I stopped using the "lighter" oils I haven't had a single issue with a FD in 12 ~15 years

Heads up! Thats GL4 mucker BM transmission/FD requires GL5

its recommended GL5 only and not the hybrid Gl4/5 mix

Oh. Thanks for that maybe I picked the wrong link on eBay. I did buy the gl5 last time. My mistake wrong link. Ooops.
