Thanks JC - she'll be up your way in early Sept. My mates' annual cycling trip was due to be the famous climbs in Belgium this year, but Covid has knackered that plan so it'll be Helmsley, Scarborough, Whitby etc.

On the maiden voyage, on the return leg one of the gear levers snapped, it was 30 year old plastic after all!. I found a replacement pair on ebay made of alloy but they took an age to arrive due to the lockdown. I have since fitted the new levers and cables and all is good now. Will take a pic of the new levers.
