Discovery Points

There are 188 Discovery Points along the route.
A "Passport" is available and can be stamped locally at each of these points.
I know - you would need to be obsessive but you can do this for any section.

Each Discovery Point is marked by attached symbol (with discovery point name ).

this is the Connor Pass.

Last year I also rode a motorcycle tour and it was very cool.
The journey began when I arrived in Dublin.
My motorcycle trip began in a very picturesque place - on the coast of Antrim. I spent the whole day in Londonderry. Then my route lay along the longest coastal path - the "Wild Atlantic Way". Then I headed towards the medieval town of Westport, County Mayo.
Then my path lay in the city of Banratti, and after him - in the city of Killarney. I spent the whole day in Killarney and it is a very nice place. Then I returned to Dublin.
An unforgettable journey.

I’ve just finished doing load of exams honest.

Tomorrow I’ll be all over it like a tramp on hot chips

Second photo is sheeps head, third photo is where I live, Allihies, last photo is Gortahig, and the reason why no coaches go around the Beara.
Hi Richie,

Is there any where to put a tent up in the allihies? I stayed in the hostel there a few times but I believe it's gone now.

Cheers,

Neil

Good news is that the hostel has been bought and is currently being revamped. I guess it will be open by July.
If you want to wild camp and promise not to leave anything behind you message me....
There is also a campsite, it is a special kind of place you either love it or hate it. Most people there come every year and don't budge. Some over-nighters find it a bit overwhelming....

Thanks Ritchie,

Must be 10 years since I was down there. The campsite sounds interesting!!

Thanks for the offer, I'll be in touch!

Neil.

While replying to a WAW thread in the Ireland section I realised I hadn't posted a link to this site which has GPX downloads with lots of useful POIs plus details of optional 'diversions' to places like Father Ted's house
Apologies for my tardiness :augie

And while we're on the subject, this was the WAW outside the Leenane Hotel at the weekend...
