West Coast Suggestions

Looking recommendations for somewhere to stay on the West coast.

8 off us now 50 somethings normally stay for 4 nights at the NW200 but not happening this year.

Once lockdown is lifted, we’re thinking of heading west for Friday to Sunday .

We need somewhere close to a pub(or several) and accommodation for up to 8 people.

We plan to tour on the Saturday and use the Sunday to head the scenic way home.

You can't get much better than Westport for a selection of good pubs n eating houses. The spin from Belfast to Westport may be a bit boring but once there you've got the roads through the connemara national park, the Mam Turks, Killary, and Lenaun n Cong worth a stop too. All of that would be a great days spin. You could venture down to County Clare as well as some good roads there too.

The lockdown in the south is a bit more stringent and also more stringently enforced than in the North so just check that out.

Head Derry Direct go round the Donegal coast route great towns all along the way and some good roads. Wild Atlantic Way!

If you haven't attended the annual Connemara run, you haven't seen some of the best biking roads in Ireland.

The base is here https://leenanehotel.com an absolute cracking hotel. Food is amazing and all in all good value at any time of the year.

Have a look at the previous events section and it'll give you loads of ideas for touring the area.

Check out the Beach Bar on the far side of Sligo. It's out in the middle of nowhere but plenty of entertainment, great Guinness and the location is stunning! Grub is most excellent too - and you are spoiled with savage biking roads in every direction... :thumb2

Either place is fantastic but for overall scenic routes and quality food at the right price id chose the leenaan hotel regards james

Got to agree - Westport for the pubs and restaurants, Leenane for the hotel, fjord and fresh mussels.

I’ll be back in Leenane in September, all things being equal but will probably spend some time in Westport as well.
