This website gives a pretty good guide to the route’s direction. It also gives some ideas of things to see and do along the way.

https://discovernorthernireland.com...destinations/causeway/causeway-coastal-route/

These two give some suggestions if you want to break it up into several days, in a relaxed kind of way:

https://www.ireland.com/en-gb/articles/tripideas/causeway-coastal-route/

https://www.causewaycoastalroute.com/scenic-drives

Use it as a holiday route in its own right or bolt it onto the Republic’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ route, for a full tour of the island of Ireland, top to bottom around the the north and western edges.

You can download the gpx file from TomTom’s website:

https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/#m..."83cabf87-8d4f-43a6-a970-43f795036655"}+ver=3]

It seems to work OK. Here it is downloaded, put into the Scenic app via an iPad and choosing the ‘track’ import:

Garmin users might end up with something like this version, created using the Pocket Earth app, again on an iPad:

Where the gps track and via points have come through together, resulting in a wiggly line that follows the track and straight lines that that join the via points. It would (should) be easy to edit and correct.

I am not quite sure why England hasn’t got something similar. Not so much a coastal route but something more akin to Germany’s Deutsche Alleenstrasse or the 'German Avenue Route'. It should be possible to create one, taking in the many sights and sites. Then add it to Scotland’s North Coast 500 and the islands, along with something for Wales. Bolt on the Irish routes and you’d have several thousand miles of pretty good journeying about. Perhaps I should make one? A job for a very rainy month....

Did that a couple of years ago, cracking route but worthwhile popping into Joeys Bar for a look round & worth jumping the ferry from Magilligan Point to run round Mallin Head peninsula definitely GS teritory. .

jumping the ferry from Magilligan Point

The ferry ain't running currently - https://loughfoyleferry.com/sailing-status/
To the best of my knowledge this is the ferry that's now running (or at least will be again after lockdown) across Carlingford Lough from Greenore - https://carlingfordferry.com
Very handy for getting into the Mournes from the South without going anywhere near Newry

The Foyle Ferry site has some interesting snippets about things to see & do in the area, see the tabs at the top of their page

I did the Antrim side of that maybe 2 years back, took the coastal road from Belfast to Giants Causeway. Met two lads along the way, Mike a fishing buddy and his friend Frank treated me to dinner in Ballycastle

I did it by chance last September from Larne to Muff. It was a last minute decision on my way to the WAW; rather than just scooting across county I decided to take the coastal route & was delighted that I did.
If you arrive late into Larne & want a decent hotel very close to the port I would highly recommend this place:-

I called them direct to book a room, and got a better rate than any of the comparison websites could get me. Be aware, the breakfasts are fecking huge.
