I know I should buy a manual....but bleeding the brakes ( especially the vague front lever )...is it a 'traditional' bleed or
are there 'hidden' nipples, procedures etc., I should know about ?

On the ABS Unit you will see two Bleed Nipples

VR and HR cast on the casing My prefered way of Flushing the brakes on these is to

1) check the wee pin hole at the Master Cylinder is clear

2 Flush from Master Cylinder to Appropriate nipple

VR is VorderRad or front wheel and HR is HinterRad or Rear Wheel

Flush through to each until you get clean fluid and then move to the appropriate calipers

You may find they have the damned awful Fill Point nipples on the right front and the rear Just heat the nipple itself and remove with a 12mm Spanner and throw them in the bin and fit New Std Bleed Nipples

The Fluid lines from each Master Cylinder to the caliper are one circuit
(No split circuits servo nastiness to deal with!!!)

If you changed the pads these do have a tendency to be soft till they bed in
