Centre Stand Assistant

UPDATE

I have applied for a copyright time stamped certificate for the design stages, so once this arrives I will give you all some more info
My fabricators have made a suggestion with regards to a change in design which I need to look at too, so watch this space

A very curious thread. A great deal of interest expressed in this ‘device’ but little detail or clues as to what it is or how it works other than it folds up to fit in a tank bag. My imagination ranges from a sophisticated hydraulic ram to a house brick and short plank to act as a lever.
This thread reminds me of the 1970s Edward de Bono’s black cylinder experiment where an audience were invited to observe a black cylinder on a table and explain what they saw when it seemed to fall over with outside influence. No clues were given and the answers were analysed and categorised based upon their detail and imagination.
I wish the inventor well with his device but it also begs the question: if one struggles to put a bike on it’s centre stand, is it the right bike for the struggler?

You have a point about the right bike....but an old boy like myself, who is carrying an abdominal rupture from op scar opening inside, could do with some help until it's repaired....so I'm interested :beerjug:

Defiant interested. I have had several Wunderlich fold out levers which are OK but not the prettiest and prone to getting cacked up on rainy trips!

I am assuming this is something the rider uses and isn’t permanently mounted to the bike?

I would be interested... I avoid using mine as it feels like it's going to get away from me.

UPDATE No 2

Right just to answer some of your questions
It is not a second person.....But I do like that concept.

There are no complicated hydraulics or bricks and planks.

As for the the choice of bike, I had a heart attack and triple bypass after I had bought my 2016 GS Triple Black so the bike existed prior to my struggle to put it on the centre stand.

I know lots of you want a description of how this gadget is going to work but I am sure you will understand that I don't want someone else pipping me at the post by using my idea.........not that any fellow Tossers would do that of course :duno ;)Watch this space and info will be forthcoming :thumby:

Interesting point, my 1200RT fully loaded was not a problem. The 1200GSLC with the same load (It’s a lighter bike) a nightmare. Different design and position of the stand is the issue. It does’t bother me, but I understand some people have a problem.

Tantalising sales pitch Op, and you have definitely generated interest so again, good luck.:D I, and I’m sure many manufacturers that specialise in copyright theft will be fascinated to see pictures of this wonder. :thumb

may be interested in one for the f800GS.... its a bugger to get onto the stand and never had a real problem with any bike before.
re MI and CABG, it gets easier with time , had my triple bypass 13 years ago now and almost do not notice it ( or is it that other things have got worse as i got older :) )

I agree with Jeffa…….and he hasn't even raised the bit about assuming you go through all that and get it into production and it is something the bike fraternity want then the Chinese will copy it for a fraction of the price !!

Yep, I’d be interested as well.

I used to use a short length of scaffolding pole, slip it over the arm then up the bike would go, but it was a bit heath robinson, and tended to scratch the stand up. It made getting any bike (even a loaded GSA with panniers) on the centre stand a piece of piss though.
