Personally I am lazy these days & leave coolant changes & brake fluid to the dealer. Service costs on the F bikes seem pretty reasonable, relatively speaking.
You remove the lower pipe from the side of the heat exchanger. There is also a drain bolt on the front of the block but I didn't use it as the pipe is lower.

You don't need the drain bolt. The BMW service manual says to drain by disconnecting the pipe at the heat exchanger. There is a bleed screw on the right side of the engine. I used a vacuum filler and it was a breeze. Some not using said tool have had air entrapment issues.
