The Strada is more or less finished ( if you can ever finish a Guzzi ).

My mind went a wandering as what to have next in my surgery.. :D

I remembering sitting a Breva 1100 at On Yer Bike & thought I could have one of these.
But that's as far as it went.

You may ask why another Guzzi ?

Well, their usually well made & use some nice quality parts, Brembo, Weber-Marelli, sachs, Marzocchi, Denso, Valeo etc
I understand them a little & my riding buddy is a great mechanic who owns a Le Mans Mk5 & loves working on them, which helps greatly with the bits I can't do due to the nature of my disabilities. ( and technical abilities :D )

So this Breva 1100V came up a price I was happy with after a haggle.
I could only buy it as its a project, looks OK from a distance, but up close its dog ruff. :(

(why anybody would let such a lovely bike get like this is beyond me personally, everything I own I cherish ) :nenau

pearlescent White. ( and golden rust )
28k miles.
2 previous owners
New tyres
Panniers (genuine Guzzi)
Hugger
Screen
Rear rack
Heated grips

I will fettle, refurbish, repair as needed over the winter.. ;)

With a view to Ride it to Mandello Del Lario in September 2021 for the 100 yr celebrations.
( fingers crossed health permitting )... :)

I know I've just finished the Strada but...
All things in Ash's life have too work for me ( easily )
And as much as I love the looks & what I've achieved with it, a modern bike is more manageable 4 me.

I'll not rush to sell it unless a good offer comes my way, especially as its very rare & she's eating no grass in my garage... :D

And so it begins.. :D

I was having a break in a services on the M6 heading home & flicking through eBay.
Spotted a used Quill silencer & link pipe for a Breva 1100 at a cracking price.
( jammy or what ) ;)

I message the seller with a cheeky offer & after a counder offer I got it.
It was collection only from Hereford.
So do I go home then drive up Thursday and collect from home in Hungerford or message seller & collect on route to home.
Luckily he was OK with collecting Wednesday pm.

The God's decided to piss on my chips by closing the M5 junctions 7 - 9.
Just the ones I need for the M56 to Hereford..
What a mare of a journey, but saved mesen a fare few miles by collecting then.

Fitted it yesterday :thumb

First proper ride......

After I'd rang Carol Nash to insure it. ( And I'd briefly checked her over ) :rob
I think there computer's were playing up, as all I had to pay was the £30 admin fee..
( I bet they sting me next time :blast )

Much smoother than the Tonti Guzzi's. ( in a Guzzi way ) :D

Brakes are superb
( not linked, which is great 4 me as I have problems with ankle movement ) :(

Power definitely up over the older 1000's ( some what :D )

Handling is in a different league.
But so it should be with the low & wide tyres on it.

And the suspension soaks up the road albeit the front is a tad soft...

Screen works well ( once I tightened the mount fixing mid ride :( )

Dash / dials are superb, but different modes on LCD wood out fox the late great Stephen Hawking :blast
( no handbook dosent help mind :blast

Handlebars are nicely positioned.
( fank feck, as it would be difficult to adjust as there separate units each side, rather than a bar ).
Could do with more leg room.
( but that's down to my personal disabilities, but will sort that later ) ;)

Sidestand is a nightmare as no little bit to put your foot of to push it out.
( again will sort later ) ;)
No main stand, but will try to locate a used one.

Panniers have been through both Iraq wars or dropped from the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, but are complete with locks.
So maybe wrap them or try to titivate them :nenau
Although how you lock them to the bike I've yet to discover :blast

It certainly is a project, but I knew that & that's what Ash does.
To try to stop me going completely insane with boredom. ;)

I'm going to try not to take it off the road, maybe just the winter months.
But keep it road legal & refurbish whilst being able to ride it when possible.
Will see about that bit as I go along the journey.. :mmmm

Hopefully it will amuse & interest some of you...

Ash...

Will I never learn :aidan

That was my thinking, when I spotted it 4 sale.. :thumb

I had a mint one of those briefly, I can't remember why I sold it as I still think they are good. I have Just remembered I still have a spare seat for it, not that I expect you need one.

Nice one Ash, I've had a couple of 1100 Breva's, a very capable bike.I've been looking for a Guzzi project for a long time now, something modern like this, upto now no joy.

Ash I believe you have it worse than I do. Watching with interest and some admiration.

Idle hands & mind do my nut in.. :loopy
Not to mention stuffing my gob & I can't be putting my weight back on. :(

So doing another project will occupy my time & mind. ;)
And being in the garage 9 miles away from home means I'm not near the food in my flat.. :fnikefork

Not going to work is a dreadful thing longterm believe me in so many ways.. :tears

We had an 06 Breva..and to this day I have no idea why I sold it. It was, by a long way, the comfiest bike I have ever ridden and the handling was exceptional. I always had to remind myself that I wasn't wearing sliders on the cat and fiddle, otherwise a sore knee or 2 would of been on the cards!

Stunning bikes and possibly the best Guzzi they ever made, certainly in the modern era.

Set of used hand guards came up in eBay for 23 sovs delivered.
Ones had a minor repair.
But hardly noticeable..;)
