K1100 LT Touring - query re value

    Hi all,

Uncle has a '98 K1100 LT Touring which he is looking to move on. Bike is in pretty much immaculate condition with only 2592 miles on the clock. It's been sat in a warehouse for the last couple of years so would benefit from a fluids change. Tires still have the rubber spikes on them as bikes has hardly been ridden since they were fitted. Apologies for the quality of the pics - light wasn't great and were taken with phone camera...

Just wondering what is the bike worth - even a ballpark estimate would be appreciated...

    Ta in advance,
    Seán.

It will still cost around €230 for replacement tyres, plus a complete fluid change, service and any sundries like battery, pads etc, another €500 probably.

Anything over €1,500 and you're onto a reasonable starting point.

Other choice, if you can, get oil/filter changed, fresh petrol and see if it runs.

    Good luck.

If serviced and looked after etc, they go on forever.

Injector seals and other items as mentioned above may need sorting incl fuel system, so as it is its a bit of an unknown.

Someone's going to carry the risk, either yourself doing it before sale, or the buyer, who has to factor this in when agreeing to buy.

Sort of bike I would be interested in. If you could keep me posted with what he decides to do.

The K75/100/1100 usually just need a gallon of fresh petrol and start up straightaway, even if they’ve stood for years. Sometimes the injector bodies need a couple of sharp taps with a small hammer to unstick them. And the fuel pumps can seize if you’re unlucky. But it’s only a 5 minute job to replace a pump. I’ve had one stood for 15 years, put fresh petrol in and it started up on the button.

    I’ve got three K series gems tucked away. A K100RS special edition, a K100RS16v and a K1100LT
