So with travel restrictions lifted, ferry tickets & some digs were booked, a rough idea of a route was drawn up (Cherbourg to the Pyrenees & back) and it was time for the annual biking holibob to begin.

The ferry was to depart from Portsmouth on Friday 17th July @ 07.30, which required a 06.00 check in, which meant leaving Chez Nutty @ 05.00

Therefore, a delightful Thursday night @ Chez Nutty with a delicious meal:

Alarm set for 04.10 Friday morning and away to Portsmouth we went....strangely enough, the port was quiet:

Cabins were mandatory, so we got ourselves comfy for the nearly 5 hour crossing to Cherbourg:

Masks were mandatory in all public areas:

And to be honest, there was hardly anyone on board and most services weren’t open:

But there were plenty of these around:

.....and we were orf!

Friday 17th would see us land @ Cherbourg around 13.15 local time, and then hit the motorway all the way to Saumur to meet up with Roberto for the night. He had made a late decision to travel to Sids event in Valeilles, and Nutty & I had decided that it would nice to go to Sids as well on our way to the Pyrenees.

Please don’t mention that motorway trip! Nearly running out of petrol, and it almost finished before it began. Getting 19.99 litres into a 20 litre tank was too close for comfort!

We were met in Cherbourg with sunny skies @ 19°c, straight through passport control & customs and hit the motorway.

278 miles later, we landed in Saumur with temperatures of 28°c and our delightful digs of the Hotel Logis du Parc Saumur:

Rooms were comfortable & well equipped:

And so to the bar for libations & dinner:

Sssh....if you say it quietly no-one will notice ;)

You should have bought the 30 litre version. :p

Good so far. Carry on. :thumb2

Can’t wait. The annual plates of food thread :D

Showed wife the pics... first comment “double bed?”:D

Of course. It's a holibob, after all. :p

We had separate rooms most of the time, apart from when it was expensive. But when we did share, dragging the beds as far away from each other was standard practice. :D
