Another definite vote for Icebreaker. You can buy them in various weights/ temperature ratings. Pretty expensive but even if worn on rotation daily you will get comfort and wear from them for years.

I had one of the thicker ones that went really ‘bally’ not sure why as the rest have worn very well.
