I bought the above a couple of years back knowing that it was a >130,000 mile bike and virtually original.
The final drive has always had a load of back lash and an inspection showed the splines to the wheel are all but knackered. It has now started leaking oil too, throwing it out onto the rear tyre.
Can those airhead techies amongst you advise what is my best course of action? Buy an exchange fully refurbed unit from Motorworks at £500+ or can the new parts be fitted without specialist tools etc.
I replaced the big bearing and seal in my 1150GS myself so aren't a complete technical disaster but I don't have the likes of a hydraulic press or specialist tools.
Replacement unit; telephone call to Mikey or others nearer Glasgow or DIY?
