With it being forecast a great day , I decided to go get the milage on my new 1250 up to needing its first service.
260 mile route planned on basecamp and successfully loaded onto my Nav6.
when I tried to find the route in the menus , it had disappeared.
well no problem I had an idea where I was going, so set off with Kirby Stephen as the goal, using all the usual bike roads, in a very roundabout way to get the milage in, had a great ride actually.
a couple of issues appeared, firstly up near Hawes a warning appeared on the TFT that the SOS button wasn't functional, and when I figured out how to clear the message the yellow warning light stayed lit, even a couple of stops with the ignition off for 5 mins didn't reset it, anyway it'll be sorted out at the service, secondly , the wonder wheel gave up being able to change the top line, fuel gauge, mileage , consumption etc. tried a few ideas out and even stopped to make sure they hadn't been unchecked in the menu and yes of course the TFT was lit, not the NAV light. But it worked in other areas in the menu and on the Nav :nenau
I also tested out my wunderlich comfort seat with the new anti sweaty bollocks netting on it, and I can report it worked quite well, thats the ebay cheapy one. I actually did 225 miles and had a great ride. so now I need to sort a few things out and get used to using the dreaded basecamp, why isn't there an option for tomtom, its so easy. :blagblah:blagblah:blagblah

It's not the wonder wheel you need to get that info on the top line, it's the button to the right of it, sorry iv'e had a few so not sure which button that is but it's the one to the right, the one you use to change from TFT to Sat Nav

The sos error is just because the internal SIM card lost its phone signal...guessing you were in a remote ish area. It should sort itself out after a good sleep. God knows why bmw made the error so dramatic :nenau

Sack Basecamp... Get yourself on My Route App.
Super easy to use. Free trial too usually.

Some people might say these bikes are getting far too complicated. Anyway , you had a great ride which is the main thing even if your were somewhat distracted by all the error messages and warning lights . :thumb

Should the SOS function really work better in a remote area though

mines doing the same. if they cant sort it, it will be removed.

The SOS failure msg is annoying.
It's badly worded. It shouldn't do it. And BMW don't care.
Mine has done it on most rides out at least once.
Don't believe it's bad mobile signal as it once did it 1\4 mile from home, a route I obviously take every time I go out. But only done it in that area once. It's a strong signal area.
BM car has the sos system and its never given a failure msg like the bike has.
Time BMW sorted the software or at least changed the msg wording.

my bike has only 600 miles on, message came on all the time, then off and on again. i mentioned it on 1st service and they put it on computer which showed faulty microphone in sos button. Hence new one ordered and will be fitted when it arrives.
hopefully sorts the issue out.

Mine works, I pushed the button to test it. I could hear the operator and they could hear me . Still comes up with intermittent "emergency call failure contact a specialist workshop" .

It could be so much worse. At least none of your stickers have come off! :D

got it back today from its first service, and yes, same as you, faulty mic, which they have to order!!!!!

Be careful what you say on your next ride, the mothership will be listening in to your every word through that open mic!

....Just like Alexa does when your at home! :D:D

I had similar problems with the SOS on my 1200 which I found distracting at times so didn't bother with it on my 1250 but installed the what3words app on my phone instead. Granted it doesn't have the ability to contact anyone automatically if you come off and only shows you where you are so you an tell the emergency services etc but it doesn't keep flashing warning messages up on the TFT either
