If you’re heading to/from the West Coast via the Dunoon ferry or the Isle of Arran, I’d recommend The Beaches Guesthouse in Ayr.
The rooms are lovely, the breakfast humongous with good quality bacon/sausages/haggis etc. and there’s bike parking in the rear courtyard.
I’ve stopped there a couple of times and Jan the owner is lovely and can’t do enough for her guests.
