Fuds that ride in groups

Sounds like a nightmare, Rick, as you obviously have different riding styles. Can’t you just meet them at the hotels each night and do your own thing during the days?

The problem is I just don't know as with one exception these are lads I haven't seen for 30 years

If and I say if they are as bad as I suspect ( I think most of them are just weekend bike meet type of riders) that is what I will be doing

I do ride with one of them regularly and at least he can ride well so he is designated tail end Charlie but we have already said that if they are terrible and slow etc we will just give them way points and meet them at the destination

I have planned for a ride out to Eilean Donan castle via the Commando monument as they all want to see that and then a day over to Oban and take them down the A816 which is more for my benefit than theirs as that is one of my fave roads in the world.

As said, in the first instance this was a reunion trip organised by A N Other and I was going for the social element and then departing and heading east to Romania for a proper bike trip. It has now turned into a group trip but looking on the bright side the social element remains

What can possibly go wrong

If you haven't seen most of them in 30 years surely you could put up with riding at a moderate pace for the sake of everyone, it's not like it's going to spoil your weekend.

Nothing will spoil my weekend and yes I can ride at a very moderate pace I am more concerned with having 9 bikes spread out over the land

Remember what this thread started off on topic and I think we will for one weekend only fall into the slow group ride category

Plan B. Meet at your place on day one, leave all the bikes there and go on a coach trip. Less hassle and more socialising.

4th 5th 6th Sept staying in Pitlochry

Thing is I didn't organise the original trip and was just going to ride at the back arsing about. Now it has all fallen on me to take them on a whistle stop trip round the highlands.

The original trip had us going out on the Chanel tunnel at 0750 hrs which meant e riding overnight to get there or getting a hotel and they didn't give a flying toss which

Now the southern softies are complaining about the same but in reverse and as a result we are losing a day so they can make their way north in relaxed and reasonable time.

When I take trips up there they are long hard and fast days

I am concerned

If you're looking for a military theme, take them to Arisaig. Wonderful road to Mallaig of course but Arisaig has a museum (open these days?) devoted to the SOE's training in the area, including the Czechs who did for Heydrich. Once in Arisaig, let the buggers loose. Them as want to risk their licenses can head for Mallaig but will have to come back again of course.

If you want somewhere a bit closer to Pitlochry, there's the Nog Commando memorial at Glenmore. The "Heroes of Telemark", well the guys the movie was based on, were based and trained in the area. You can go to Cairngorm and take that in on the way. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-37846376

Sounds like a good plan thanks for that

Only if one or more of the fuckers fall off

There will however be beer and food pictures

Good man. Stick a warning on the title so the snowflakes that don’t like food or drink pictures don’t need to read the thread. :comfort :D

Nice cafe with great views across to the Moray Firth at the end of the road that goes past Loch Morlich, and you might see reindeer as well. Don't think they're on the cafes menu!
